Mr. Gnome

Mr. Gnome is a rock n roll duo, similar to that of The White Stripes, and maybe even Royal Bloody, but probably a little bit more ‘angsty’ in general. Nicole Barilles guitars are crashing and driven gluing these songs together with such a thick distortion on her hollow body electric guitar. From the outset, they are intriguing as they launch into their first song “Plastic Shadow”. Drummer, Sam Meister is so heavy with his playing, as though he is in the heaviest band ever, playing drums almost like a kid at Christmas. Their music is definitely bipolar to say the least, touching on some emotive sections and then before you know it, blasting into a middle section that features a meaty and mammoth riff. They are one of those bands that play to each other, not to the audience, with Meisters drums pointed diagonally towards Barilles, but that aside, it’s still amazing to watch and to be a part of, reacting to this music before us.

This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended! They are both so talented and awesome. From the first song to the last they played impeccably and forcefully.

I was overwhelmed by the guitar play, drumming and creativity of Mr. Gnome.
