The Getaway Plan

The Getaway Plan has made such a name for themselves in the alternative rock scene. They hail from Melbourne in Australia, and to this day maintain their name in this scene that they have always been at the forefront of. They launch straight into one of their biggest songs “Where The City Meets The Sea”, which has the audience this evening singing pretty much every word that vocalist and guitarist Matthew Wright sings. I really enjoy the energy that these guys exude when they play live, keeping punters engaged from the moment the house lights black out before the set. “Shadows” is a worthy closer of their set, which was one of their breakthrough singles that acquired a following on a more international level upon it’s release.

Seeing these guys perform live is a mixture of nostalgia and remembering a stage that I went through, where me and all my friends would save up for tickets to go and see bands similar to The Getaway plan in that wave of indie rock and “emo” music.
