Rats On Rafts

Rats on Rafts truly are a sensation, with a pounding sound all of their own. Quite difficult to categorise without turning to lazy references such as post-punk or krautrock. What is true though is that its all about the groove with this Dutch band. I've seen them about ten times, and they always, without fail, get the audience leaping about. I've seen them in a small club with no more than forty people - two of whom were Alex from Franz Ferdinand, who is himself a fan, and Jonny from Pete and the Pirates / Teleman - and every single person in that room ended up moshing. Amazing. But above all else, ridiculously hard to categorise, beyond, as I mention, the motorik groove driving everything along. Absolutely have to be seen live to be understood.
