Regardless of whether you’re into gangsta rap, it’s undeniable that Yukmouth is an incredible performer and rapper, and with Grammy Award nominations under his belt, there really is no denying it. His performance etiquette is incredible, and the way that Jerold Dwight Ellis III (Yukmouth) interacts with his crowd makes the energy sky high and had every single person in the room cheering and dancing along. He opened the show with his famous track Neck Straight, and behind him he had the video of the track projected on the wall, and singing along with that was awesome. Listening to rap live can sometimes be difficult to understand, but hid diction was spot on, and eloquent.
He’s done several collaborations with huge rap and R&B names over the years, and although he was unable to perform any of them live, he sang some sections of tracks, and had his DJ play samples of some of the artists he collaborated with, which was really cool. He played a great selection of his tracks, and when he performed Smokin’ Trees, he split the audience in half, and had one section of us singing one part of the song, and the other section singing another part which was super exciting to hear the great sound we all created.
