Rapper Adenuga was born in Hackney but grew up in nearby Tottenham, North London, UK. After completing primary and secondary school Adenuga attended the University of Greenwich through which he received a First Class Honours in 3D Digital Design. Before moving to the professional music production of Pro Tools and Logic Studio, Adenuga started out producing mobile phone ringtones and playing with the production of Mario Paint and Fruity Loops.
Along with his brother Skepta and grime artist Wiley, Adenuga formed the music collective, record label, clothing label and mobile sim card line, Boy Better Know in 2005. Prior to Boy Better Know Adenuga had been part of the grime crews “Roll Deep” led by Wiley and “Meridian” alongside his brother Skepta. Throughout the 2000s Adenuga released a string of EPs, 12” and mixtapes, including “Badderman” and “Thank you Xavi Mixtape Vol. 3” as well as a host of releases for the Boy Better Know label and collective.
The rapper released his debut album in 2008 entitled “Famous?” which garnered significant attention and appeal to warrant a follow-up “Blam! in 2010. “Blam!” peaked at No. 66 in the UK albums chart and featured the singles “Over Me”, “Sidetracked” and “CD is Dead” featuring grime rapper Tempa T. Unlike his self-produced debut, JME enlisted the help of Darwoon, Deeco, and Teddy Music on his sophomore. Adenuga has remained an underground artist from his humble beginnings and has developed a considerable fan base for his reluctance to join the mainstream.
