702 started in 1994 and became successful for several years. The R&B trio from Las Vegas came up with the name 702 as it's the area code of their hometown. The two girls LeMisha and Irish Grinstead are twin sisters who met their friend Kameelah Williams at the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts where they all studied. The actor Sinbad at a performance they did in Las Vegas got them into a competition, which started their career, after falling in love with their act. The girls music reminds me a lot of every other girl R&B group from those days, but you can't help but dance along to their music when it's on. Their debut album was called 'No Doubt', which crashed to number 1 on the Top Heatseekers list. Missy Elliott even co-wrote and produced 4 songs on their album, I mean who doesn't love Missy Elliot? The first single from the album 'Where My Girls At?' is my favourite of all their songs, the girls performed with charisma and style when on stage, it is a shame to see a good group come to an end but some times it maybe for the best. In 2010, Kameelah Williams from the group confirmed that she was permanently going solo. Although I loved what the girls did back in the day, I don't think I'd be interested in seeing her perform on her own, their music is pretty outdated now.
