Absolutely incredible to see how she's evolved and defined her live sets over the years! I last saw her at a festival pre-pandemic, and have enjoyed her music in the meantime, but always at "I'd catch another set of hers at a festival if it's convenient" as opposed to "can't miss."
Well, I planned to catch a convenient set of hers at SSBD 2022, which was rescheduled due to rain, making it a half-mile walk at 3 am on the last night of the fest. So essentially the opposite of a "convenient" set, but I went anyway....and OH MAN AM I GLAD I DID
Despite the band before rudely (and vocally aware of) playing 25 minutes into her time, which she already was personally sacrificing to give fans a late night set, Maddy was so positive and fun on the microphone, while mixing one of the most unique and danceable leftfield bass sets that I've heard in a while.
We were only planning on catching 20 minutes, but ended up glued to the dancefloor till the end, wiggling till well past our bedtimes
