Born and raised in Frayser, Tennessee, Patrick Lanshaw immersed himself in rap culture from a young age and began freestyling in high school. At the request of a friend, the rapper began writing songs down, which ultimately resulted in Lil’ Wyte joining the all-white rap group, the Shelby Forest Click. In the process of recording and promoting a series of demos, Lil’ Wyte came to the attention of the Three Six Mafia, who signed the rapper to their Hypnotize Minds label.
Following an appearance on Project Pat’s single “Crash da Club”, Lil’ Wyte released his debut full-length album “Doubt Me Now” in March 2003. Initially selling over 135,000 copies without any promotion from the label, “Doubt Me Now” became a huge underground hit aided by contributions by Juvenile, DJ Paul, and Juicy J. Spawning the popular singles “Oxycotton”, “My Smoking Song”, and “Acid”, the record led the rapper to sign with the Warner Bros. imprint Asylum Records. Lil’ White continued to release new material well into the new millennium notably “Phinally Phamous” in 2004, the U.S. Rap chart No. 3 “The One and Only” in 2007, and “The Bad Influence” in 2009.
Following the release the rapper formed his own label Wyte Music and issued the collaborative album “Year Round” with JellyRoll and BPZ in 2011 and the full-length “Still Doubted? in 2012. A second album alongside JellyRoll appeared in 2013 entitled “No Filter”, and was followed in 2014 with the album “B.A.R. (Bay Area Representatives)” with Frayser Boy. The studio album “No Sick Days” also arrived in 2014, marking his ninth full-length to date, features appearances from La Chat, Frayser Boy, and JellyRoll.
Great atmosphere, the employees and security made it very enjoyable for everyone. There were a few local artists that rocked the stage and a host to keep you entertained during set switches. once wyte came on though the place was rocking! Talking with lil wyte was like talking to a buddy from back in the day. All in all I would definitely go back to peps for another show!
