Will Gillespie

Award-winning Singer-Songwriter Will Gillespie performs his Northern Ontario History themed Old-Time Folk Musical and 12-story song cycle: "MINE! True Stories & Legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush" taking the listener on a musical journey back in time to a lost world of prospectors, pioneers, bootlegger-bandits, high-graders, mushers and moonshiners. This theatrical concert of new songs written in Old-Time styles from Bluegrass to Ragtime to Music Hall, Barrelhouse Blues, Waltzes and MORE! celebrates the unsung heroes behind the legends of the Porcupine Gold Rush of 1909.

The full-length LP concept album of songs from this show was Triple-Nominated for Durham Regional Excellence in Arts, Music and Sound (DREAMS) Awards in 3 different categories including Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, and winning "Song of the Year" for the tune "Princess Maggie Buffalo".

This is a multi-media, immersive musical theatrical storytelling experience, also featuring projections of original Northern Ontario landscape paintings by visual Artist Susan Robinson and historical photographs from the collection at the Timmins Museum National Exhibition Centre of the real people, places and events Will Gillespie will be singing about.
