We (partner and I) went to Warm Nights in Bohemia Heights. It was a very ordinary experience. The high-light to the night was the appearance of Josh Teskey. The female on keyboards was also exceptional. My partner and I (and many on the table were were seated with) were very disappointed by the acoustics. It was a 'concert' mostly of the spoken work. Either the equipment was not up to scratch or there was no absolute clarity of talking into the microphone - it was mostly garbled. My partner is a Tim Rogers devotee. I'm not. We were both disappointed by the experience.
As always a great gig from Tim. The new songs are really good and will probably get better when I hear them more (I will be buying the new album). A smattering of oldies to keep us interested, all great as usual. The band was great also, all really good musos in their own right.
A couple of quibbles. I thought the set was a bit short and I would have liked to see Tim play some electric guitar. I did not like the support act much but that was my preference, I think he is talented but not my favourite.
I laughed, I sang, I listened to tall tales and was wowed by his jazzy shirt. Tim Rogers is always amazing, and in a tiny room at the Black Heart, acoustic, and a relaxed Monday night was extra special...
