Roll Deep may have had a number of roster changes over the years (former members include Dizzee Rascal and Tinchy Sttrder) but that hasn’t deterred the founding members such as Scratchy, DJ Target and the Godfather of Grime, Wiley, from continuing to take the crew on one more tour in support of their latest album “X”
The 10-man Grime collective hailing from the east end of London have been bringing the party to hyped up crowds at festivals and venues across the UK and Europe almost 10 years since the release of their crossover album “In At The Deep End” back in 2005. That album, which was one of the first to bring Grime to the forefront of British media from pirate radio stations, showcased the talents of the UK’s best MCs on hit single “The Avenue” When performed live, Roll Deep’s later work includes Ibiza tinged chart hits “Good Times” and “Picture Perfect” offer an element of light relief and are an interesting contrast to their political minded tracks of years gone by such as “Racist People.” However the synth pop numbers are well peppered in a varying set list that is performed seamlessly by the group, who show the same on stage chemistry as when they first began. Watching Roll Deep in concert at any venue is most definitely a fun and nostalgia filled experience.
