Danish heavyweight electro rock trio Carpark North are a fantastic act to see perform live. Due to their successes in native Denmark, the boys have had the chance to hone their live show since their formation in 1999 and now have a slick, polished live show which includes impressive laser light displays, ominous smoke machines and occasionally a barrage of inflatables (but these tend to on hold for the festival crowds).
The band look completely at ease onstage and tear through a collection of their greatest hits including a momentous rendition of 'Shall We Be Grateful' which is received by audiences brilliantly. Yet the band show no signs of slowing down as they begin new single '32' to huge cheers as it charted in the top 5. The band's bizarre name, which when questioned on actually was down to a mistranslation of the word graveyard yet they decided to stick with it anyway, is a good idea of what to expect from the live show in terms of it's equal bizarre nature.
A 30 Seconds To Mars style sound is achieved by the trio, and frontman Lau Højen has a similar swagger which is sure to go down brilliantly overseas now the band are signed to Sony Music. Fellow Danish electro artist Mø is currently making waves across the UK & US and by the stature of this band's live show, I imagine they'll be close on her heels. As the final riffs of 'Best Day' end, you feel Carpark North have their sights set on the world.
