Lizz Wright

It would appear that for Georgian singer/songwriter Lizz Wright, jazz and soul music has been one wonderful constance within her life. She played piano and sang as part of a choir through church before studying singing on a professional level at Georgia State University. This dedication to the music has paid off as she is now one of the United States' most revered jazz singers and has released four acclaimed albums so far.

She has a global following for her mellow, easy listening sounds and joyous stage show. As she confidently steps into view, she looks as though she has just entered a spa rather than an auditorium as her face shows emotion of serenity. It is clear that Lizz is the most contented when performing onstage and simply loves sharing her discography with the enthusiastic audience. She is awarded with rapturous applause after displaying vocal prowess on the likes of 'It's All In Your Mind' and 'Keep Holding On'. She takes a final bow with her loyal backing band and enjoys the scene and the sound of the applause before exiting very reluctantly.

Lizz Wright was absolutely spectacular last night. She is such a gracious and audience friendly entertainer that loves her craft and was fully engaged with us from the very beginning. Two songs she covered (Amazing Grace, The First Time I Saw Your Face) were worth the price of admission. A must see (and hear) for music lovers!

Amazing concert!! She is the continuation of the songstresses of old..Ella, Sarah, Dinah, and Billie. I also got a chance to meet her briefly after the concert and she was as kind and elegant offstage as she was on. It was my first time at that venue but it won't be my last if they host another artist I'm interested in hearing.

This woman's pure and lovely tone and sound was on full display at the Howard last night. She just came out sang, told a few stories, and entertained us for a little over an hour.

It was a great night and I'll be certain to see her again soon.

Excellent performance by Lizz and her keyboardist. Free photos and autographs were provided after the show. Stellar venue - ample free parking, comfortable setting with moderately priced food & wine & spirits. Perfect sound & light systems.
