The concert was fantastic! I hadn't seen Scars on 45 since The Rock Boat XIII so I was really looking forward to the concert and they did not disappoint. They sounded fantastic. They were very entertaining in between songs and interacted wonderfully with the crowd. I especially liked Nova's good-naturedness when the rest of the band members goaded him into a "Stomp" type performance. Aimee's voice was magical...her and Danny together sounded fantastic. They played a good mix of already released songs and songs that are on their coming album which will be released in October 2014. This concert was neat too because one of the guitarists was actually their opening act (Broken Anchor) and to see that kind of camaraderie between acts was nice. It’s one of the reasons I loved The Rock Boat XIII. The setting was amazing too. It was 90.5 The Night's Songwriter's on the Beach series so the band was on the boardwalk while the audience sat on the beach. Their set started with the sun setting in the background and ended after dark. I highly recommend this band to anyone who wants to check out some great music but a great and funny band. GO SEE THEM IF YOU CAN!!!
It took 8 counts into a Scars on 45 song for me to wonder, "Who IS this?" standing before me onstage, and just a second longer for me to decide I was a fan.
Scars on 45 is everything you want in an indie rock band. Talented, energetic, witty...oh, and the fact that they're British with accents and good looking doesn't hurt, either.
Danny and Aimee share lead vocals, and their voices blend together so exquisitely, you'd think they were doing this all their lives, and not just a few short years. Chris, Stu & Nova round out the band impeccably on drums, bass, and keys. (Ask Nova to do his Bono impression. ON POINT.)
THIS IS A BAND YOU SHOULD NOT MISS. Do not question it, just get yourself to a show. (Oh, and side note: Beware if you ever play soccer with them. They're all amazing athletes and will run circles around you on the field.)
This was my 2nd time seeing Scars on 45 and they did not disappoint! Great songs with melodic hooks performed with great energy and passion. The band has figured out how to craft catchy indie pop songs with meaningful lyrics (not schmaltzy) that seem to resonate across various age groups. Although they performed a bunch of new songs that haven't been released a good chunk of the audience still knew the words and sang along (thanks YouTube!).
There's a genuine rapport amongst the band members, which makes for entertaining banter between songs. Aimee leads the banter with mostly hilarious results. The band is comfortable on stage - a result of seemingly non-stop touring - which immediately sets the vibe for the audience as well. Don't miss these guys when they make a stop in your town.
