Often, there’s a clear distinction between music producers, and performers, but Andy Stott does an incredible job of combining his production skills with his performance. He opened the show playing synth over the top of his electronic dance music playing in the background, and the techno vibe had everyone dancing right away. It’s great that he performs his tracks both live and pre-recorded, using samples, as well as his own voice and live instruments.
He was great at interacting with the audience and kept shouting for us to all join in with the dancing. He would put his hands up when he had a spare moment to signify that the build up to the drop was coming, and everyone was dancing like mad. He played through the entirety of his new album, and had the whole audience dancing like crazy. At the end of the show, I saw loads of people queuing to buy the album, which is a great sign of a good show! He played for a full 2 hours, and maintained great energy throughout the show. His charisma was continuous, and he was fantastic at making the audience feel involved whilst playing great music.
