EDM is a very ‘fashionable’ genre of music at the moment, and it’s refreshing to hear a live band version of a variation of the genre performed by talented musicians. This is exactly what the German rave hardcore/techno band Dune have done with their music over the years. Their happy dance tunes heavy with synths are sure to get any audience dancing, and they certainly did just that when I saw them live.
It was great to see that they’ve maintained some of their 90s roots, with the dance routine and head microphones still present in their hit Can’t Stop Raving. Although they’ve various breaks here and there and alterations in their line up, they undoubtedly give a great performance every time. Oliver, Jens, and Bernd who have been with the band for the entire duration of their journey maintain the drive and energy of the group, with their enthusiasm for the audience to join in with their singing and get really involved.
They played Nothing Compares 2 You to open the show, which went down really well with everyone shouting along to the chorus with the band. They predominantly focused on their hit album Forever, but also revisited many other tracks, so it was great to get the variety.
