It could be said that Gabriela was destined to have an artistic life after being born to two Latin entertainment legends: Movie icon Silvia Pinal and Rock and Roll legend Enrique Guzmán, from whom she cites as her inspiration and influence in art, music and spirituality. She holds the nickname La Reina del Rock (The Queen of Rock) due to her huge successes in Native Mexico, with more than 10 million albums sold, 16 released albums and 30 singles in radio’s Top 10 hits along with an accumulation of three Grammy award nominations over her career and one Latin Grammy Award for the 2002 album 'Soy'. Over her musical career she has had the fantastic opportunity to perform with legendary acts like James Brown and has even opened for Rolling Stones when they played in Mexico in 2006 which cemented her reputation as one of rock's most important figures in Mexico.
She is a personality as well as a musician in her homeland, acting as spokesperson of the campaign,'Your Rock is to Vote' promoting the right to vote among young people and participated in publicity campaigns for internationally renowned brands such as Miller Light, Jeep, Kraft and MAC Cosmetics. Away from the commercial light, Guzmán is known for her charitable work and has contributed to campaigns including Aids Health Foundation, The Mexican Aid Associations for Children with Cancer, and the CIE Foundation. In 2006 Alejandra raised money to finance alcohol and drugs rehabilitation programs whilst in May 2008 Alejandra acted as spokesperson for the SER campaign (SPTI) to promote breast cancer awareness.
Alejandra Guzman is a well-rounded artist who has been performing for more than 20 years in various capacities. She's put out over a dozen different albums and is still performing now. She has a tremendous vocal range and works hard at improving in every manner of artistic expression. A true entertainer and artist in every sense of the word. I saw her recently in Miami and she's just as high energy and engaging as ever. She sings with an unbelievable amount of feeling and emotion. The crowd was so involved in the show -- everyone cheered nonstop in support of La Guzman and rode the roller coaster of emotion with her. Both of her parents were entertainers which has obviously contributed to her natural ability. She's still got great moves and wears really jazzy and snazzy getups when she performs. She has won tons of awards in the Latin music arena and has some really great live albums as well. La Guzman is one of my favorite Latin performers of all time and sings a wide variety of tunes, ranging from upbeat rock to power ballads to slow, daunting, emotional tear jerkers. She is a legend and her music will live on forever!
