Samantha Fox stands onstage dressed in a short black dress and black boots. She is center stage, with her musicians and back up singers behind her. After greeting the crowd, she steps back as the drum beat starts, then joins in with the music, singing “Touch Me”, her debut single. The crowd, already cheering, goes wild as her voice washes over them, setting the scene for a crazy night of dancing, fist pumping, and singing along with this English pop-star. Samantha Fox has had a diverse career: as well as being a pop and dance singer and songwriter, she was an actress and glamour model. She kicked off her music career with “Touch Me” in 1986, and that song made Top 10 both in the US and the UK. Her second single, “Do Ya Do Ya (Wanna Please Me)” also received international fame. Since then she has met with huge global success, selling over 30 million albums. Her first album, Touch Me, was released in 1986, followed in 1987 with Samantha Fox and 1988 with I Wanna Have Some Fun. Between 1991 and 2009 she released six other albums, each just as good as the last. Samantha Fox puts on a good show, whether indoor or outdoor, to a large or small audience. Her infectious enthusiasm and love for her job are clear, and only make the audience love her more.

A song called “Everything” is the opening number from Jody Watley this evening, and immediately there is a roar from the crowd that she is playing one of their favourite songs. It is no wonder as to why this songstress is a Grammy Award winning songwriter with her distinct voice and her vocal chops. It’s refreshing to see an R&B artist go the extra mile to perform with a live band too. She launches into some of her biggest hits, which is what tonight is all about. “Real Love” is a song that has every one in the vicinity singing along to the infectious chorus. “Looking for a New Love” earns an equally as big reaction from the audience who are dancing from start to finish, showcasing their best 2 step. Watley is a worthy performer and a great host for tonight’s show. She finishes with the huge track “Everything”, which is yet another song that brings the house down, and for this she is very grateful.

Trinere Veronica Farrington is an R&B, House and Pop/Dance artist who has had quite a career over the last twenty-five years, with many fans who still frequent her throwback shows where Trinere, on her own manages to carry the crowd in the palms of her hands with her fantastic charisma and stage presence. Of course she opens with quite possibly her biggest hit to date, a song called “They’re Playing Our Song” which has every audience member dancing like it’s the turn of the 90s, in imaginary shell suits. Her voice is one of those iconic voices that people cite as such an influence in house music to this day. She has such a wonderful quality about her when she performs, always smiling and engaging every member of the audience, making them feel completely welcome, and making sure that they have a drink in their hand and they’re dancing. “All Night” is one of the loudest moments for the audience in the house who sing almost louder than the in house system. Trinere is happy to back on the road, touring, doing her thing. It’s a pretty cleansing kind of performance.

It’s so fantastic to see that this female pop group, Expose who originally got together as a group thirty years ago is finally making a comeback. They have this venue packed to the brim with punters excited about this 80s electro pop that makes you want to wear a shell suit or at least a blazer with shoulder pads the width of a bus. It’s no wonder that this trio were once upon a time, one of the biggest acts to come out of Florida with the catchiest choruses with enough hooks to go and reel in a tuna.
Tonight they launch into some of the biggest hits of their career, songs such as “Let Me Be the One” which was an international hit for the group in 87, and then some of the later material such as “I Specialize in Love”. Whilst every one in the crowd wants to hear one song in particular, of course, it is the hit that really launched this group into the stratosphere, “Seasons Change”.
