The Lightning Seeds, an alternative band out of Liverpool, put on some of the most amazing live shows you will see in any genre. Their song Pure, performed live, is a lively, jazzy, poppy, fun, funky song. It is a mellow good time, a song to sit back and relax with a few beers with your friends to while they play just for you.
But just when you think they are just a fun little light band you will change your mind if you hear them somewhere like the Riverside Festival. They raise the roof and bring down the house, simultaneously, with surprising electric guitar riffs and incredibly fun drum beats. They march in time with the music as they belt out the lyrics. The audience takes it all in and loves it. You can feel them bouncing, hopping, getting excited at the music that is washing over them. They keep building the intensity until the audience cannot take any more, then they bring it back down to that smooth, poppy band that you enjoyed talking about over beers with friends. They can go to so many extremes that seeing them live is an experiment in variation. It's an experiment not to be missed.
The wait went on forever...
Eventually they turned out and played the jolification album in its entirety. Brilliant sound and fabulous to hear some never played live tunes.
Inexplicably they went off for 25 minutes for a break.
Feeling not a little exploited they returned.
At this point I was a 3/5 scoring attendee.
They absolutely smashed the second set and I was a massive 5/5 by the show stopping Life of Riley.
My favourite track ready or not was a standout, performed brilliantly with Ian showing his guitar finesse and timing superbly.
A show to remember and be very proud of.
Timeless dynamic and beautiful, a tour de force.
Quality shone like a beacon at the Bingley festival . For reasons hard to understand stated the festival off . Set was perfect and well delivered . Set covered all of their best known material . The songs do not date - still as fresh as when first heard .
Sadly on the whole festival a let down . Some names just turned up for the money and clearly couldn't give a monkeys . Most the new bands forgettable semi thrash metal . Only exception perfect set from Pale Waves .
The Lightning Seeds sounded great. I can't say much as I didn't see much of them. The area set aside for wheelchair users was at one side. But the speakers were positioned so there was only about 10% of the stage in view. Well done to the Lightning Seeds for sounding brilliant. St Luke's, you need to consider the experience for your disabled patrons.
