This was a terrific show. Chris is a very entertaining guy. Massively talented as a songwriter, he is also a gifted guitarist and an expressive singer.
I will admit that I am a latecomer to his fan club. I had never heard of him until 2015 when, in December of that year, I received a friend request from him. My first thought was, "Oh great. Another random scammer fishing for my personal info." But I checked out his profile, and as a lover of music, I decided to give him a shot. Glad I did.
Last night he walked on stage unannounced, unfolded his setlist and set it on a stool with a bottle of water and what appeared to be a glass of red wine. He quickly greeted the audience and launched into the first song. What followed was 90 minutes well-spent.
Chris is a funny guy and told plenty of great stories, which may or may not have been embellished. He played most of our (my wife and I) favorites. This includes "I Wrote a Song for You," "Don't Let Your Monday Own Your Sunday,", "Keg on My Coffin," "Any Little Town," and more. But it was also an opportunity to hear new favorites. For a 48 year old guy he has a helluva catalogue between his solo work and The Push Stars. Does he ever sleep? We do not own his complete catalogue (yet). So probably more than half of the songs we heard last night we were hearing for the first time. They were all wonderful.
I can enthusiastically endorse this guy with a guitar as a great show. If you get a chance, definitely go see him.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening! Chris is a great talent and funny to boot! I'm already looking forward to his return to Chicago. Opening act Bea's raw compositions and easy-going style were very refreshing. Nice combination.
Was a great show.i was there with my guitar teacher and he even invited her up to sing into the bright lights with him. She was si happy it really made her night.
