Last night at the Atlantis Lounge in Portland, Oregon, the Brooklyn-based duo Ellia and Jeff delivered an outstanding performance that effortlessly blended whimsy with razor-sharp wit. Their act, a harmonious mix of music and comedy, captivated the audience, who were given the unique opportunity to influence the setlist through the use of tarot cards — a creative and engaging touch.
Before the show, I had the pleasure of meeting Ellia and Jeff in the lounge. They were incredibly personable and approachable, making it easy to connect with them beyond their music.
The song titles alone, like "Paris Green," "Baba Yaga," and "Disembodied Head," sparked the imagination and hinted at the eclectic and adventurous spirit of their music. Their performance felt like a fantastical journey, reminiscent of a quirky blend of Edward Scissorhands' whimsicality and the B-52s' energetic vibe, culminating in a metaphorical tumble down the stairs into a vibrant, packed Speakeasy.
Overall, the show was a delightful experience, filled with laughter, energy, and fantastic music. Ellia and Jeff are true entertainers, capable of creating a fun and immersive atmosphere that leaves you wanting more. Two thumbs up for a night that was as enchanting as it was amusing!
