Watching DJ sets is always great, but I find sometimes that you can forget you’re watching a live show. Well, this definitely isn’t the case with Moonbootica. The duo of Oliver Kowalski (KowwSix), and Tobias Schmidt (Tobitob), command the absolute full attention of their audience, as they mix and create awesome music, encouraging everyone to sing and dance along from start to finish. The way that the two artists bounce their energy off of each other and shout out to the audience is something that I’ve never experienced with a DJ set before. Both artists have their own microphones, and sing and shout over their audience to keep everyone energised.
They opened their show with epic lighting and smoke taking over the stage, before they rose up to their booths on platforms seemingly through trap doors of some sort. Their first track, Pretty Little Angel, from back in 2005 had everyone dancing right away, and their vocals over the top were exciting and refreshing, as they don’t appear on the studio recordings. They played a great selection of tracks from right back in the early 2000s, up to their new album Shine, and their single Beats & Lines, which had everyone dancing non stop.
