DZ Deathrays are definitely one of the most individual bands that I think I have ever seen. There aren’t many out there of their kind, well there’s The White Stripes, Drenge and most recently Royal Blood, who are dominating the airwaves at the moment with their extremely distinct sound. But back to DZ Deathrays who hail from Brisbane, Australia, who is more of a thrash metal band. Shane Parsons has vocals that are similar to that of Rage Against the Machines and come to think of it, a similar guitar style to that of Tom Morellos, utilizing a pretty hefty pedal board, complete with an octave pedal, a whammy pedal, a looping pedal. There is a breakdown in their song “No Sleep” that is very interesting, a little bit loud and dissonant but at the same time, very intriguing. “Black Rat” is the album that they’re touring at the moment and they’re wowing audiences on an international level it seems, making waves with their loud punk and slightly thrash music.
