Wolverhampton born Darren Cunningham better known as the Electronic DJ Actress, started his career in 2004. Moving to London and running his own club nights gave Actress the freedom and opportunity to showcase and work on his material. Breaking all boundaries and experimenting with various stems of the genre incorporating Minimal Techno, Glitch and Vaporwave, Actress finds inspiration from everyday life and feeds it in his music. It’s difficult to describe his ambient music in a matter of words, all you can do is listen for yourself and its open to personal interpretation and with that in mind everyone who listens Actress has a different level of engagement and relationship with each track. The best example of this is when mixing live, every single person in the audience is dancing to a different beat which in some instances may look bizarre but in this capacity it is fascinating. Through his album releases Actress has successfully managed to enhance his sound through experimenting with various sonic effects and playing with a number of genres has allowed him to achieve greater appeal. There aren’t many artists who exceed expectations every time when it comes to new releases, but with Actress it’s effortless as the algorithms of music pump deep within his veins as he experiments to high heavens and achieves incredible results.

Awesome! An interesting blending of the familiar and the unknown, human and machine, with all the performers bringing their own different flavours to the proceedings, but unmistakably an Actress performance.
