In 2006 the Experimental Area ROXY/NOD celebrated 14 years of activity on the already legendary address Dlouha 33 that was previously a flourishing site of a restaurant, cinema and a ballroom renowned for its famous balls.
Malice of the communist regime left the building utterly derelict and damaged. Despite the poor condition of the place the magical atmosphere and history of the area managed to touch the people of the Linhart foundation, a group of enthusiasts led by architect Jan Mayer.
After a successful tender in 1992 we find the Linhart foundation preoccupied with the most vital construction works, draining water from flooded underground hall and consequently starting the operation of the Experimental Area Roxy.
Thanks to architectural dispositions, atmosphere and historic spirit of the building, Prague and the Czech Republic got a legendary place where people from all around the world with all kinds of artistic interests meet every day.
Unfortunately, Dlouha 33 did not avoid the devastating floods of 2002 which meant a repeating history of completely afloat underground rooms of the club. The Experimental Area Roxy/NOD has been reconstructed and brought back to full operation only thanks to great drive of all employees, volunteers, fans of the club and support of the city council.
The Experimental Area Roxy/NOD offers full variety of concerts, dance music, gallery presentations, internet café with wi-fi connection, theatre, films, performances and workshops.
It is a cosmopolitan place in the centre of Prague that has achieved proper fame, respect and cult status during the time of its activity, but first of all, it has been a performing venue for huge number of artists from all over the world.
