Jacques Dutronc was a striking young man. The allure of his piercing eyes and European swagger was boosted further by his stylish brand of French garage rock. Jacques really was the continental counterpart to his 60s heros of Bob Dylan and Ray Davies and his songs have been covered by a long line of great artists over the years, a testament to his enduring legacy.
Decades later, Jacques still brings that charisma and flair to the stage which is an incredible feat for a 71 year old. Dressed in all black with shades, Jacques is textbook cool and you can just feel the energy his history brings. Feeling like a French Lou Reed, Jacques saunters his ways through tracks, singing confidently and with a style that may have only improved over the years. When you’re as iconic as Jacques though, your mere presence on stage is an absolute gift to everyone in the crowd. Any opportunity to see a living legend like Jacques in the flesh should be absolutely treasured, and his crowds are lucky because they aren’t all this cool at 70.
